The emerging flash memory technology '3D NAND' is allowing SSDs to increase capacity well beyond HDD sizes by packing 32 or 64 times the capacity per die. The result of this SanDisk is releasing 8 TB SSD drive this year, and 16 TB SSD drive by 2016. The increasing flash density is allowing the manufacturing of higher sized SSDs and HDDs are getting limited to 10 TB.This means SSDs will excel HDDs in capacity by year 2016 and most of us will be using SSDs in our servers than HDDs. This move of technology is actually killing the unique selling point of the SAP HANA.
So the question is, what is the future of SAP HANA? is it worth to invest in it at this point of time? and as a consultant what should we suggest to our customer?
